On the 14th of February – on a Thursday – Year 3 travelled on a journey, which took almost 10 minutes to visit Bradford Cathedral.
When we got there, the entrance was decorated with flowers placed on black chairs with pillows behind the flowers. The first thing we did, was sit down on pews and an adult called Maggie told us about what we were going to be doing today. The activities were: colouring in our own designed shoe, having a look at all the stones that were the oldest ones and the ones with people’s markings on ( not their names because they didn’t know how to in those days ) ; going around the cathedral making a tally chart of how many symbols they could spot and learning about the important places and items in a cathedral. We found it really interesting because we could see all of the things that we had been learning about in class. Alfie kept pointing out things like the altar and the lecturn!
When we had finished doing all of those activities we went back to school where all their parents were waiting for us.
We had a brilliant; fabulous time and so did all of the teachers who went with us. We loved learning a bit of history about the cathedral and seeing things in real life that we had learnt about in the classroom.
