Year 2’s Trip to The Chocolate Factory

On the 23rd January, Year 2 went on a trip to York, to visit the famous chocolate factory! They had a fantastic time, and enjoyed all the great activities that they did. The visit was to support the work they have been doing about Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

They learnt lots, but loved every minute too! They learnt about the long history of chocolate, and how it all started, as well as designing their own creative and cleverly made chocolate machines. Also, they made their very own Willy Wonka chocolate bars, which they all loved the best!

Water safety

On Wednesday 28th January a man, who knew all about water safety, came in to speak to year 4L and 4S about it. He spoke about all of the unsafe things around water outside like: a river, an outdoor swimming pool, the sea, a reservoir, and a pond. Once he finished the talk he told us about a competition that year 4 can enter. The competition is to design a poster to say why you must be safe around water. The winner will be rewarded with 12 free swimming lessons at Eccleshill swimming baths.

3P explore the Stone Ages

3P visited the Yorkshire museum in York today to find out about what life was like in the Stone Age, through to the Iron Age. They spent the afternoon in a fantastic workshop where they were able to handle genuine artefacts from thousands of years ago such as a range of axe heads, arrow heads, flint knives etc. The children then took part in a hunting celebration, cave art, weaving, tee pee building, making a clay pot and designing their own coin.
The children behaved beautifully and all had a fantastic day out. Have a look at some of our photos and feel free to leave us a comment.
