Celebrating Emily Brontë’s 200th anniversary, Archiving Emily is a day workshop with poet Sarah Corbett and novelist Nicola Harlow delving into Keighley Library’s Local Studies unique Brontë archive. In the morning we will explore aspects of the archive, with the afternoon devoted to creative writing exercises inspired by Emily’s poetry and fiction. The workshop is open to all.
Please bring your own lunch although drinks will be provided. Pencils and writing pads/notebooks only please.
Sarah Corbett is a poet and Creative Writing tutor. Her fifth collection of poetry, A Perfect Mirror, responding to the landscape of West Yorkshire and the Lake District, was published by Pavilion Poetry/Liverpool University Press in 2018. Sarah teaches Creative Writing for Lancaster University and lives in Hebden Bridge.
Nicky Harlow is a published novelist and broadcaster living in West Yorkshire. She is an Associate Lecturer in Creative Writing at the Open University, where she has just completed a PhD in Creative Writing. She is currently working on a new novel in which Emily Bronte is a major character.
