Join Bradford Libraries this summer for the Mischief Makers Summer Reading Challenge 2018 for children from 4 to 12 years old.
The challenge is a national initiative to encourage primary age children to continue to read throughout the summer holidays. Research has shown that the Summer Reading Challenge improves children’s enjoyment of reading, as well as their reading range, confidence and motivation and it helps prevent the summer holiday dip in literacy skills.
All our libraries will be involved in the Mischief Makers Summer Reading Challenge 2018, which this year is celebrating the Beano 80th anniversary. Every child who joins will receive a fold-up poster with six Beano character stickers to collect. There are also bookmarks, colour-in card glasses and wristbands to collect as you read more books. Every child who reads 6 books will receive a certificate and medal complete with presentation wallet which not only marks their achievement but are also fantastic to take back to school in September to impress teachers and friends!
Mischief Makers Summer Reading Challenge 2018 will celebrate adventure, friendship, reading and fun with all our libraries having activities for children to support the challenge. Whether you enjoy drawing comic characters; watching rib-tickling comic performances; meeting the Dog’s Trust; discovering animal tricks or learning a few for yourself from our Magician or simply creating your own comic story– we’ll have exciting and fun activities for all children (and parents too!). To find out library opening times and more details please use www.bradford.gov.uk/libraries or contact your local library.
Mischief Makers Summer Reading Challenge 2018 starts Saturday 14th July and bookings for all events will be taken from that date only.
