Monday 9th November

Hello and welcome to the latest edition of the Head Teacher’s blog last week saw me dressing up as The Sheriff of Nottingham to demand my 30 pieces of silver tax from Robin Hood and Maid Marion in year 2. The children had a fantastic day in the woods building dens and learning how to live in Robin Hood times.

On Wednesday I am looking forward to the Remembrance Service 10.25am start in the hall and at the Cenotaph at 10.50am. Our focus this year is the impact on families that war has and how the poppy appeal supports these families. Please have a look at this animoto and discus the images

Hello again, what a fantastic final week of term lots of activities and super parental support, firstly the dance performances were amazing. I have just been watching them in the home page of the blog and I must mention the collaboration between the children again, it was lovely to see the older children helping out the Screen Shot 2015-10-24 at 08.44.01
younger children. On a performance note it is fantastic to see the children develop the confidence to perform to a huge audience. Well Done! We will have a re think before the Christmas performances with regard to space, once again thank you for supporting. Secondly the Spelling Bee – we felt it was a fantaScreen Shot 2015-10-24 at 08.46.08stic event which hopefully will inspire the children to learn their spellings, put a little fun into spelling, help develop the House Teams and support collaborative working between the children. Thirdly Another huge thank you for the kind donations I am sure the Food bank will be extremely pleased with our contribution, another large parental turn out and a brilliant performance from our ever increasing choir. Screen Shot 2015-10-24 at 08.52.28Fourthly it was really pleasing to see so many parents pop into our Reception stay and play morning, the children were really happy to show you what they have been doing and share a Screen Shot 2015-10-24 at 08.45.00cake with you. Finally  year 2 had a brilliant week designing, costing and making their salads for the “The Great Greengates Salad off”. Year 3 had interesting day being Hunter / Gathers outside on Monday linked to their Stone Age topic and a well done to our Year 6 Ultimate Frisbee team who took part in the Bradford East 1 Partnership festival on Wednesday.

particularly enjoyed there work on Stonehenge which has resulted in Thomas Flyde becoming the first pupil to achieve a piece work in the Golden Book. Well Done Thomas.

A couple  of weeks back our first 12 pupils to achieve outstanding went to Funopolis in Shipley as their reward and had a fantastic afternoon. Who will go on the next Outstanding reward afternoon?

Next week I am particularly looking forward to Reception’s Super hero morning and and Year 2’s Great British Salad off……Watch this space

Hello and welcome to the revamped and updated blog site, we will be ensuring our sites are maintained and kept up to date from now onwards – so please bookmark our page and keep checking and of course commenting. Commenting on the blog really encourages the children to write more and become engaged in their learning. This half term we have had a superb time with visits to The Yorkshire Museum to meet the dinosaurs, Harrogate Museum to meet some Egyptian mummies and to Bradford industrial Museum to be Victorians for the day. Within school they have been den building, hunting for dinosaurs and planning world trips on google maps.
I am very pleased to report that the in year progress measures across school at the end of the Autumn term were very healthy and as a result when we met with the local authority last week they will report to Bradford council that we are making ‘GOOD’ progress since going into the Ofsted category.
Media Literacy continues to be strength of the school, for those of you who missed our Look North performance you’ll find it on the Home page at the righthand side

Year 2 have also had an exciting week chasing Terry the T – Rex around school – I hope to post some of their writing her next week.
