Well done to all the children who came to school on time every day last week as part of our 100% attendance week. I would like to take this opportunity to remind parents how important it is that children attend school every day. Well done to those children who have not missed a day off school this year. You will be able to attend the Exceed 100% attendance celebrations and be entered into a draw for to win a bike!
Don’t worry if you have missed a couple of days this year, there are still special awards and rewards for these children. So keep coming to school every day!
I am very pleased to announce that school has been awarded one of the very first Community Hearts Awards. The school received the award for its contribution to the community. I would like to thank all the children, parents and staff who have worked with us to make this amazing achievement possible.
Our Y6 children have arrived safely at Ingleborough Hall and are having a fantastic time. Yesterday they visited the show cave and spent their first night in the hall. Mrs. Fulmer and I will be visiting the children later today to find out the new and exciting things they have experienced today. More news on my return.
Our Reception class children had their first school lunch today. They all coped extremely well and, I am happy to report, there were lots of empty plates! Keep it up.
On behalf of everyone at Horton Grange Primary School, I would like to welcome you back to school! An inspiring and exciting school year lies ahead. I would like to give an extra special welcome to any new children joining us for the first time this year. We are sure you will be happy and will quickly feel part of our new school family. We hope you all had time to enjoy the holiday with family and friends.
New faces at Horton Grange Primary School
We would like to welcome the new members of staff to Horton Grange Primary School. I know that you will make them feel welcome and part of our school family.
The start of the new school year enables us to set the tone for learning and behaviour in the school. It is an important time for teachers and children to establish classroom routines and to set expectations of behaviour and working well together. Please help us by ensuring that children are in school by 8:40 am (in preparation for registration), wearing the correct school uniform and ready to learn. On the school website you will find detailed information about the school day including school uniform information and what they need to bring for P.E.
We will continue to award prizes for attendance as in previous years. It should be noted however that 100% attendance will now only be awarded to those children who attend every day and have no late marks. Can we also take this opportunity to remind parents that, except in and emergency, all GP and dental appointments should be made outside school hours. Please remember that the Government no longer permits children to take extended leave during school time. Taking your child on unauthorised absence during school time will lead to a penalty, in the form of a fine, being imposed by the local authority. If you need to take your child out of school in an emergency please contact the Head Teacher or another member of the senior leadership team as soon as possible. A calendar of school closures is available on the school website, or from the school office.
At this time of year, it is important that we update the information we hold on your children in school about your child. We try to keep these requests to a minimum however it is important for the safety of all the children that we have up to date and accurate information. It would be greatly appreciated if you could respond to any such requests as soon as possible. Could we also remind parents, in the interest of safety, it is important that you notify us immediately of a change of telephone number or address.
The Horton Grange Primary School team and I look forward to the year ahead and to working with you once again.
A huge congratulations to all the children who have achieved 100% attendance this year. I look forward to seeing you all at the Exceed celebration event. There will also be the opportunity for children to win further prizes in school, such as bikes, certificates and the ever popular limousine rides. We have three limousines booked this year, two white ones and a pink one! Remember you need to keep coming to school every day to ensure that you don’t miss out. This includes arriving in school on time every day, as this is now part of attendance and will count in subsequent years towards 100% attendance.
It is nearly the end of another academic year. It is that time when the children meet their new teacher, our parents receive their child’s annual report, and our Y2 and Y6 children receive their SATs results. All the children will spend the morning of Wednesday 16th July with their new teacher, in their new classroom. They will spend some time on activities and getting to know the routines and layout of their new classroom.
Our parent’s evening is also on Wednesday 16th July, commencing at 3:00 pm. This will give parents the opportunity to receive their child’s annual report and to meet their child’s new class teacher. We look forward to seeing you all on Wednesday!
Congratulations to our football team for reaching the Exceed Football Final. Every player gave 110% during the game and played extremely well. Unfortunately we were beaten by the team from Copthorne Primary School 3 – 0. We were very proud that one of our pupils, Danish Al-Sami, was voted man of the match. We are looking forward to next year’s season and another trophy. Well done!
We are very proud of the Year 3 and Year 4 children, who attended the Exceed Sports Day. The all had a great time and respresented the school fantastically. They brought the third place trophy back for us, which we are extremely proud of. Well done to everyone who took part.
Our Summer Fayre on Saturday was a fantastic event. We were pleased to see so many members of the school community joining in. I think that we can all agree that it was a great success. The children particularly liked the pony and fairground rides. Thank you to all the parents for their thanks and positive comments about the event and the school. We look forward to the next event when we can all get together.
