Silsden: School of Rock

To celebrate the end of their ‘Playlist‘ topic, children in Year 4 were invited to come to school dressed as their favourite pop stars on the last day.

Although the identities of some of the ‘stars’ remained a mystery to Mr Crossley, Mr Peat and Mrs Walker, everyone enjoyed the day and all of the learning that built up to it.

The activities across the half term have included:

  • Attending the Primary Prom at Halifax Victoria Theatre
  • Having a picnic and outdoor sing-a-long
  • Coding and performing the triangle dance
  • Designing, making and then performing with their own instruments
  • Producing presentations on the science of sound
  • Having weekly year group singing practice
  • Enjoying a showcase performance from the Crossley Family Band
  • Researching, then writing about, the role of percussion instruments within an orchestra
  • Writing their own compositions and performing with chime bars
  • Learning the New Zealand Maori ‘Haka’
  • Enjoying a performance by the Steeton Male Voice Choir
  • And much more!

Next term, we will be taking to the hills for our topic:  ‘Misty Mountain Sierra’.
