Tri Golf Skills Event

Tilly taking a swing…

On Thursday afternoon this week, 9 of our Year 5 and 6 children were lucky enough to take part in a special tri-golf skills event at Bracken Ghyll Golf Club. The event was designed to encourage children to enjoy golf and to try out something new!

Taking part in a series of putting and chipping challenges, our team did us proud with their enthusiasm, resilience and respect. With quite a few novices, Mr Swindells and his team of helpers (thank you) got plenty of exercise retrieving balls from around the course. Luckily, Mr S has played many a round with Mr Bolland so came to this task particularly well-equipped!

We’re still awaiting results from the event but hopefully taking part will have inspired some of the team to try their hand at the real thing soon!

Basketball tournament

Year 6 pupils took part in a basketball competition at Holy Family school on Tuesday. There were only 2 schools involved. Both our boys and girls teams finished 2nd to St. Stephens.

The boys’ match started off quite one-sided but Hothfield grew in confidence and the second half was a much closer contest.

The girls’ match was an end to ebd game which Hothfield narrowly lost but there were only a couple of baskets between the sides.
