Good Work Assembly Friday 27th March

Mathew has worked superbly in cornerstones, especially on his piece of work about the Gladiator Olympics.

Kyra has worked excellently in her assertive mentoring maths lessons. She’s really keen to work hard and produced her best score yet!

Eve has worked so hard with her homework project, what a super welcome to earth box!

Summer has been chosen for good work assembly she has made a welcome to earth box for an alien that came to Nessfield.

Spencer is class 7’s star of the week for his fantastic report of what dropped out of the sky in the iron man story. He also made a great metal robot during the innovate session.

Kacie has doubled her reading target in Accelerated Reader-what a super star!

Evie drew a picture of Jesus getting arrested and described why with detailed sentences.

Joe, Lewis, Taiba and Sarah all worked together to create an animation of the life cycle of a chick!

Joseph has been chosen for excellent story writing to finish the blood heart unit.

Lucy has impressed her teacher this week with her wonderful Cinderella story.

Good Work Assembly Friday 20th March

Brandon has been chosen for working hard and having a good learning attitude in his assertive mentoring maths lesson.

Mysti for showing lots of good description and using the sentence structure learnt to create a good story opening.


George created a fantastic menu for an Iron Man. He created meals made out of metal and made them sound excellent by including adjectives. His teacher is sure the Iron Man would be spoilt for choice. Well Done!


Hrishi has written some fantastic newspaper reports this week for ‘Nessfield News’ about catching dragons and our chicks. He even wrote a report for extra homework.

Caden made great progress with his reading, Mrs Strickland is so proud of him!


Megan is Class 7’s Star of the Week for her super report of Craig Dyson coming into school.


Lily has made huge improvements in her writing over the last few weeks. Her work on the Tongo lizard was excellent.


Hannah showed excellent computing skills to produce this publisher poster about the chicks. I was impressed by her willingness to go back and check her own work.


Zain is the star of the week because he has worked independently to calculate some number problems.


Sarah makes sure she presents her work beautifully. She took great care when writing about the life cycle of a butterfly and I know she enjoyed this as well as the life cycle of a chick.


Good Work Assembly Friday 6th March

Finlay has written a fantastic description about ‘Beegu,’ an alien character. He has also completed some lovely independent working in role play.

Lily and Aymen have both more than doubled their scores from their weekly maths test this week! Mrs Holden is super proud of them.

Angel has done some fantastic independent writing about the Bloodbottler from the BFG. Mr Bell is so proud, keep up the hard work!

Danni is Class 7’s star of the week for her super use of rhetorical questions in her diary writing in the character of Hogarth from ‘The Iron Man.’

Olivia’s teacher has chosen her as her writing is the most improved within the class. She has designed her own dragon called ‘Killer Blazing Nightmare’ and written a report about it.

Can you guess the character (and the book we have read this week) in Class 14? Miss Baxter sent Joseph up as the star for the extra effort he has made and also the great creativity he has shown.

Jacob in class 10 has made an extra effort with his presentation this week. Class 10 are making a massive effort to improve his handwriting and presentation. Great start Jacob!

Grace has listened and followed instructions and produced some lovely Cornerstones work from which she has made an interesting colourful and well illustrated powerpoint.

Molly has written a story about Sophie (who she came dressed as today!). She is beginning to use paragraphs and higher level punctuation.

Amelia has been chosen for reward assembly for an amazing piece of writing.

Lily worked hard on writing sentences using connectives to describe how Hogarth felt in Chapter 2. Super Lily!

Good Work Assembly Friday 27th February

Arafat used the different materials to create a rocket, when he had finished building his rocket he helped his friends.

Phoebe was chosen for concentrating well in her cornerstones work. It had been well punctuated and showed beautiful handwriting.


Jake worked really well in assertive mentoring, he was so pleased he got 19 out of 20.

Nathan is class 7’s star of the week for his fantastic holiday homework. He did all of this plus two reading comprehensions!

Maisie has made a model of a park-the slide looks like fun!

Charlie is class 14’s star of the week because of a complete turn around in behaviour and attitude-he has been working really hard too.

Adele always completes her homework to a very high standard. Keep up the good work!

Aimee is working fantastically in RWI she is now reading words without Fred Talking.

India is following instructions better and her writing has improved. She is remembering some set 2 and 3 sounds in her writing.

Alicia persevered to use her knowledge of division by 10 and 100 – well done!

Callum has written some amazing sentences based on  How our to train your dragon! Fantastic work!

Brandon is in good work assembly because he has worked really hard in maths this week!

Bronwyn is class 11’s star of the week for her super maths work-well done!

Good Work Assembly February 13th February

Class 1- Rowan was able to record a story about the characters ‘Transformers’. He pressed his Fred fingers to spell.

Samiul has worked really hard in RWI. He has really tried his best to listen and hold a sentence. He has also spelt words correctly and checked his writing so that it makes sense.

Kai worked independently and created a fantastic sculpture. We took a picture and then Kia explained what he had made.

Mille has been learning to subtract using tens and units. She tried so hard and kept on going until she got it correct. Well done Millie.

Lexie, Isabel, Lilly and Shae. This amazing team worked co-operatively together to build an incredible castle from nothing but bits of card and tape. Their problem solving skills were very impressive and there wasn’t a ‘cross’ word between them. They showed great perseverance and imagination.

Nimrah is class 7’s star of the week for persevering and writing a great rap!

Today we found out about a wedding ceremony about the church and Aaron wrote a lovely sentence about the promises the bride and groom make.

Alistair was chosen for his beautifully presented persuasive letter with well thought out points.

Ms Baxter has chosen Emma and Erin for stars of the week- their work on innovate was fabulous!

Kyra showed confidence using Aqua – pencils. She listened carefully to instructions and gave ‘life/movement’ to the three different aliens in her picture.

The following children have received Blue Peter badges for their amazing writing that they submitted! – Aqib, Liam, Billy, Hasnain, Keeron, Thomas, Aqib, Lilly and Harry.

Rosie and Jessica in class 2 received a gymnastics medal and certificate for their performance  at Oakbank.

Liberty has impressed her teacher with her reading. She has been trying so hard and has passed her target for this half term.


Good Work Assembly Friday 6th February


Harry made a model of a flying engine- it looks amazing!

Matty- a fantastic piece of descriptive writing, photo to follow….

Kieran is class 7 star of the week for his excellent work overall. He brings work that he has done at home each day to further his learning. What a star!!!

Mrs Preston is really pleased with how Mathew has significantly improved the presentation of his work.

Harvey & James received a trophy for their super dancing at Messy Church.

Milly- for a super effort all week especially in her stargazer’s topic where she created a super accurate line graph!

Rysa’s writing is improving constantly, she puts 100% effort in  every piece of work. Ms Baxter is extremely pleased with her writing and attitude towards her work.

Faiz has been trying extremely hard this week. He has shown a very good attitude when he had to solve a problem and managed to solve it for himself. He is working to be much more independent.


Good Work Assembly Friday 30th January

Bethany has created a super detailed model of our solar system. The planets had lots of good detail and were well decorated.

Jake completed some detailed, neat and informative writing about the Northern Lights.

Alice has created an amazing owl using pastels. What a fantastic drawing! :)

Mrs Samtaney is really please with Zayn in RWI. He’s reading with much more confidence.

Safa has listened to her feedback and responded to it to help her improve her acrostic poem about Florence Nightingale.

Evie has worked very hard with Accelerated Reader and has achieved 98.5% of her target. She reads regularly at home and takes lots of time and care over her quizzes. Well done Evie. This is her current reading book.

Faiza has been trying really hard to make sure she uses Fred fingers in RWI and set her work out neatly.

Shehriyaar is star of the week  for getting 1 off full marks in his reading comprehension-fantastic!

George did some super role play with Alex Fellows and played a main character from 1066. He also did some super role play in jigsaw.

Ava-Mai has done a piece of writing on a mark-marking table, independently.

Zain worked really well with his linking school partner from St. Mary’s Riddlesden. He was a credit to Nessfield and a great role model. He made sure he listened and co-operated with Zak during the art activity.

Euan had produced this amazing piece of artwork-well done!


Good Work Assembly Friday 23rd January

Liam has amazed his teacher with his kenning poem about 1066, fantastic work!

Maariyah has produced super accurate calculation work this week. She has been a star!

Ellis was brilliant in our re-enactment of the Battle of Hastings and then wrote this amazing report, full detail of and complex sentences.

Lola- Has worked very hard this week. She has been able to make amounts of money up to 20p. she has set out her work neatly.

Subhaan & Rabaile- Both of these children achieved a score of 20/20 in their SATs mental maths test this week.

Imogen did some excellent research to be able to explain why the moon appears to change shape. She now knows this is called The Phases of the Moon.

Libby- This week Year 1 have been learning about coins and making different amounts. Libby made amounts independently. 

Callum’s behaviour has improved so much this term and you can tell as his work is fantastic! Yesterday we studied Florence Nightingale and looked at her life events and added more detail. Well done Callum, keep it up!

Jessica decided to create a town. She effectively cut out each house and recalled the numbers, ordering her town. Later, on Friday, Jessica added a sentence. Well done!

Luke has produced fantastic inuit art work, using a range of materials.

Petr has made boat out of plasticine and investigated how the shape of the boat helps it float.

Kadey has written a letter to the pirate who left a treasure chest outside of Class 6. A detailed letter, well done Kadey!

Farrah has been a superstar this week, look at her super work!

Meia has worked really hard on her cornerstones topic this week. She has been looking at Florence Nightingales life. Well done Meia!


Happy New Year from our friends in Taiwan!

Hello Boys and Girls

It’s Mrs O’Hara here! Guess what I received last week?

A package from Taiwan! Our twinned school in Taiwan – ‘Wen Ya’ sent us lots of Happy New Year cards. They are beautifully presented and tell us lots of information about the children. Here are a few examples. If you want to see more come and find me in school.

I think we need to send them something back that’s just as nice. Can you think what we could send them?

Good Work Assembly Friday 16th January

Ethan has created a fabulous cake for his homework, he had to create a model of the Solar System.

Alannah is Star of the Week for completing a cricket quiz at Headingley correctly and in the quickest time. Year 6 behaved brilliantly on the trip and Mrs. Baxter was so proud that she asked if Mr. Bell could mention it in assembly. The cricket staff were extremely impressed- and said they were a “credit to the school.”

Isabelle has been a superstar this week. In the Maths Den she bought items from the shop and was able to make up to 70p using the coins.

Inaya has written about the ice sculpture. She completed her writing independently.

Maisie has been writing a pirate story and listening to all her next steps.

Cole has produced a great description of Captain Hook and his life.

Lucy has for working superbly since Christmas. She has created an interesting and informative fact file.

Matthew has impressed his teacher by producing this super piece of work about Harold Godwinson.

Lucy has been chosen for the map work she completed for her cornerstones Frozen Kingdom. All of her work is always done to a very high standard.

Maisie created a story map. Maisie independently holds and spells sentences to match most pictures.

Mrs Meehan is pleased with Micky Lee’s effort with all his work. Well done!
