Leaping Leopards Homework

Here is a selection of homework by Leaping Leopards. We have had some fantastic castles built out of materials found around the home. Do you think Queen Victoria would like to live in one of these?

In addition to this, we have had some creative poems written about the Victorian times. I really like the way Bethany has written about chimney sweeps and Lewis has written an acrostic poem using the word Victorians. Which bit of the poems do you like?

Furthermore, Maddison has tried really hard to persuade me to let her be queen. I like the way she uses questions at the beginning to make me want to read more and I also like the way she has used facts about Victorians times. How would you persuade me to let you be King or Queen during the Victorian era?

Leaping Leopards Topic Work

Today in Leaping Leopards we have been looking at primary and secondary sources. When we understood what these were, we looked at different types of sources e.g. photographs, film archive, diary, website. We then went onto look at how reliable, relevant and rich each source is. In small groups we ordered the different types of sources to show which one we though was most reliable to the least reliable. We then did this again with how rich the sources were. We wrote down why we thought certain sources were more reliable and rich than others.

Victorians

This half term, Leaping Leopards are looking at the Victorians. To start our topic off we played a game called artifact pursuit. To play this game we had to roll a dice and then we had to place a counter on that number. On each number there is an artifact and the aim is to ask probing questions about the past based on the artifact. Once we got into teams, we started to play and had lots of fun looking, investigating and exploring the artifacts.

Green Group

In Leaping Leopards green group have been reading Dexter’s Dinosaurs. In Dexter’s Dinosaurs he wishes to go back in time to meet a dinosaur but the wish goes wrong. The dinosaur’s come to Dexter’s town and they cause problems.

Imagine you live in Dexter’s town and wake up one day to find there are not one, not two but three towering, ferocious dinosaurs. Write a description about what happened that day.
