Year 4 Autumn 1

This half term we are learning:

  • Maths: Number and place value
  • English: Poetry (Free verse), a fantasy story (Charlie and the Chocolate factory), persuasive writing (TV adverts)
  • Science: States of matter
  • Topic: The Maya civilisation
  • RE: God, the Creation story, Harvest festival
  • PSHE: Community
  • Art/DT: Designing and making chocolate bars
  • PE (Tuesdays): Ball games
  • ICT: E-safety, typing and changing text, copying images

Dates to note:

12th October: Harvest festival

19th October: Trip to York Chocolate Factory

PE lessons are on Wednesdays.

Year 4 Fun in the Sun!

French Day

Last Friday was French Day.

A big THANK YOU goes to all the adults who took part in some way or other (either at the Café, the cricket field or in the classrooms) and to Year 6 children for being fantastic waiters!

PE lessons are now on Monday with a rugby coach

Year 3 Trip to Bradford Cathedral

Year 3 enjoyed a visit to Bradford Cathedral.  They had a guided tour, a mosaic craft workshop and a musical organ experience.  The children asked lots of interesting questions and they were complimented on their excellent behaviour.

Toothpaste!

Year 4 has been learning about famous scientists and their inventions.

This week we learnt about Washington Sheffield and his invention of modern toothpaste as we know it today. The children made their own toothpaste and tested it against shop bought toothpaste.

  • French: Body parts, going to the doctor’s

Please note that PE lessons are on Thursdays and that the children need both outdoor and indoor PE kits in school.

Easteringle Service in Church

Thank you to all the parents, carers, friends and family who attended our Easteringle service today.

A big WELL DONE goes to all the children who sang beautifully and especially to the ones who bravely read some passages from the Bible or some prayers. You are all super stars and made the RE team very proud!
