Tong Football League 2018

Well done to the school football team who made a fantastic start to the U11 tournament last night.

We played 5 games, here are the results:

  • St.John’s (A) 1 – St.Paul’s
  • St.Anthony’s 0 – St.Paul’s 2
  • Bradford Academy (A) 1 – St.Paul’s 0
  • St.John’s (B) 0 – St.Paul’s
  • Bradford Academy (B) 0 – St.Paul’s 4

The team really grew in confidence as the games progressed and they worked really well as a team. A special well done to Phoebe for making some great saves, our goalscorers Cameron (6) and Jacob (2) and Joe’s great communication in defence. Well done everyone!

Thank you to Mick and Mr Platt also.

Last Friday, year five visited Tatton Park to learn more about the life of an evacuee during WWII. Poor Aunt Mary got a bit of a surprise when they arrived as she was only expecting three to five evacuees. Everyone had a great day and learnt a lot about life in WWII.

Thank you to all of the adults who came with us on our trip!

Orienteering!

Four children from year five visited Tong Leadership Academy yesterday to take part in an orienteering race. Working in pairs, they had to navigate their way to a specific point on a map and then return to the start to pass the baton on to the other pair. The children were competing against 11 other schools, who were mainly made up of year six children, from Bradford and Leeds. At the end of the competition, the top four teams would progress to a final round at Leeds Beckett Park. Unfortunately, the team just missed out on the top four but did extremely well to finish fifth!

Science!

In year five, we have been learning about how plants reproduce. Today, we took cuttings from fuchsias and planted them in new soil. We are hoping to watch them develop their roots and grow into new plants over the next few weeks.

Playtime Equipment!

Bradford Bulls brought us some new playtime equipment into school today. This was gratefully received by year five. They hope you all enjoy playing with the equipment and look after it!
