Last week, Year 6 and Reception class worked together to produce a fantastic Remembrance Day display to celebrate 100 years since the end of WW1.
The children in both classes worked together to produce lots of poppies using paint, tissue paper, crayons and felt tips. We then joined them altogether on the silhouette of a soldier.
Year 2 also kindly contributed their poppies in the shape of 100.
Well done to everyone involved. I am so proud of this amazing tribute.

Today in Year 3 we had our first Art day.
We focused on mixing colours with a variety of materials and the outcomes have been fantastic.
We have drawn and painted Stonehenge and even made it out of biscuits – yummy!
We’ve had a lovely day and learnt lots about Art.

Year 2 had a visit from a very significant person called “Florence Nightingale”.
She came to tell the children about her life as a nurse and her travels to Scutari in Turkey where she nursed soldiers who were injured in the Crimean war. When she arrived there she found that the hospital was very dirty, bandages were re-used, bed sheets were filthy and rats were running around everywhere. So she and her nurses and porters decided to tidy it all up and get clean bandages and sheets. They also got fresh food and clean water. All these things helped the soldiers to get better. At night she checked on the soldiers using her lamp to light the way. We still use Florence Nightingale’s methods today and that is why she is a “significant person” and is known as “The Lady of the Lamp”.
Today we had a visitor in our assembly.
Mad Science came and delivered a fantastic assembly all about Science. Kinetic Kate showed us some exciting experiments and taught us lots of new things.
If you enjoyed the assembly then don’t forget to go online and book on to their Science club which will be held at School from the 16th October 2018. Deadline is the 1st October 2018.For anymore information contact the office or feel free to grab me in the playground.
Thanks Miss Briggs

Year 6 have been learning all about light this week. We have been experimenting with light rays (yellow string) we have learnt about light travelling in straight lines and into our eyes. We found out how our eyes use the light to make images from our brain too and how clever they are.
We then started to understand shadows and what shadows are formed from the light rays. We also studied reflection and refraction.
What facts did you learn from these investigations?
What do you now know about light, shadows and the human eye?
Today Years 3 and 4 had a visit from the Road Safety Team.
The Road Safety Team spoke to us about how to stay safe when walking on the pavements and crossing the road.
They told us some important things to remember when we are crossing the road:
2.Stop
3.Look – right, left and right again.
4.Listen
5.Think.
We got the chance to use their role play road and learnt where is safe to cross and where is not. We can now all be safer when crossing the road.
The summer term is finally here, hopefully the sun will shine too. We have our SATS tests this half term so we will be working hard to revise for them and do the best we can do.
This term we are learning:
Dates to note:
NOTE: Last term I sent home a note which showed the children’s practise SATS scores. Over this week and next week your child should bring home their completed SATS practise papers for you to look at too.

On Wednesday 21st March, a man called Paul Butler came into school and taught our class to play the African drums.
We learnt lots of different tunes and rhymes and some people took part in solo performances.
After we learnt how to play, Year 5 came to watch and even learnt a song to sing in the middle,
We have a very busy term ahead, this is our last full term before SATS so we will be working very hard and preparing for the last terms in Year 6.
