Year 6 Imax and Science and Media Museum

Yesterday, Year 6 went on a trip to the Science and Media Museum in Bradford. We took part in 2 workshops, watched a science film on the Imax and looked around the exhibitions. We learnt lots of new facts about photography and cameras. We also had the chance to experiment with lights and cameras as well as taking part in science experiments.

In the Imax cinema we watched a film called ‘Mysteries of the unseen world‘. It showed how cameras can capture things that are too small, too fast or too slow for the eye to see. It was fantastic. Here is a clip.

Here are the rest of our photos.

Well done to all the children who represented St.Paul’s brilliantly and received a compliment from someone at the museum for their excellent behaviour.

** Tell me a new fact you learnt below please **

St.Paul’s Community Carol Service 4.12.17

On 4th December, various members of the community were invited to join our carol service and listen to some Christmas carols with a mince pie. All the children sang beautifully and  everyone enjoyed it. Well done to Mr Collier, Mrs Barraclough and all those who helped.

Year 3’s trip to the Mandir

On the 23rd November Year 3 went on a trip to the Hindu Temple also known as the Mandir.

We were invited in to the temple and shown to the worship room where we got to see all the Hindu Gods and learn lots of interesting things.

We learnt all the Hindu Gods names – well 10 of them, about Hindu weddings and also about what the Hindus might have in a shrine at home.

We had a fantastic time and felt so welcomed, the Hindu priest also gave us a gift as we left.

Welcome Back!!

Year 5 Brazil Carnival Day 2017

Yesterday the children in Year 5 took part in a Brazil day and found out all about Brazilian carnivals. They made a flag and a mask and then tried some different fruits in the afternoon. They all made their own tropical punch from orange, pineapple and apple juice.

The sun came out too just like in Brazil 🙂

Here are some photos of our day.

What did you learn about carnivals Year 5?

French Day

Last Friday was French Day.

A big THANK YOU goes to all the adults who took part in some way or other (either at the Café, the cricket field or in the classrooms) and to Year 6 children for being fantastic waiters!

Here are some photos of this wonderful day.

Another big THANK YOU goes to all the children and staff who wished or sang Happy Birthday to me!

Digital Leaders Celebration Event 2017

Today, the Year 5 digital leaders went to the innovation centre, in Bradford, for a celebration event. They shared a presentation about their achievements in school over the year, which can be seen below. They then received a wristband and certificate to say they had successfully completed the training to be a digital leader.

The children also had the opportunity to speak to some visitors about some new technology and games and review them. They received a free mug for this too.

Well done to all the children involved. You have acted as role models to the rest of the school and your confidence has grown immensely. I am very proud of your maturity throughout the training but especially today.

A very proud Miss Charles 🙂

E-Safety Coffee Morning (THIS FRIDAY)

As you are aware internet safety is a key issue for most parents and schools in this ever changing and technology driven world. The NSPCC state, 1 in 4 children have experienced something upsetting on a social networking site” and 1 in 3 children have been a victim of cyber-bullying”

We want to keep the children at St.Paul’s as safe as possible online. On Friday, PCSO Luke Carson has been invited to present some information to parents and carers about children’s safety online. All parents and carers are welcome to come and hear ways in which we can keep children safe and also be on hand to answer any questions you may have.

The coffee morning will start at 8:45 and there will be refreshments. Please let us know if you would like to attend by returning the slip on the letter, phoning or calling in at the office or commenting below.

Thank you
