How many legs?

A school bus travels from Leeds to Bradford.  There are 4 children in the bus. Each child has 4 backpacks with them. There are 4 dogs sitting in each backpack. And every dog has 4 puppies with her. All these dogs have 4 legs, with 4 toes at each leg.  How many legs are there altogether and how do you know? How many toes and legs are there altogether? Please share your workings.

I think it’s 40 because 4 children= 8, 4 dogs = 16 and puppies = 16 so 16+16+8= 40

I think there are 1288 legs on the bus because each child has 4 backpacks, in each back pack there are 4 dogs and each dog has 4 puppies.4 Puppies have 16 legs the are 4 sets of 16 legs so that is 64 and then add the 16 legs of the grown dogs to give you 80 legs. So 80 times 4 equals 320 so every child has 322 legs with them including their own so 322 times 4 equals 1288. So my answer is 1288.

The answer is 1288 it is very easy to work it out.

1’256 legs and 25’120 toes

4 times 2 =8 32 0ne person 128 bus 1 in one 1’256
1’256 times 4 = 25’120

I think that altogether, there are 1280 legs altogether( not including the drivers)
This is because, for 1 child, there are altogether 20 dogs- 4 dogs and 16 puppies. There are 4 backpacks so we now have 80 dogs so far. Each dog has 4 legs each so 80×4=320.
I now know that 1 child carries 320 legs and his own 2 legs. There are 4 children so i must times this by 4 and this =1288
There are 5200 toes-1288 x 4=5120.
5120 +the kids 80=5200.

i accidentally made a mistake on the first line. It should be 1288!

I think the answer is 48 because if you do 4×4 for the childeren’s legs which is 16. Also i did the same thing with the dogs and the puppies. After that i added all these up to get the answer. Finally i found my answer was 48. 🙂 🙂
