Year 1 class assembly

Today, Year 1 have produced a fabulous assembly all about Sikhism and where it began. They started off by welcoming their audience, half of the school and the parents of the children, as they began to explain when and where the religion was founded. The class said that the religion started over 500 years ago and the man who started it was born in India. He travelled all around India spreading the religion’s beliefs as well as telling everyone what to do and how to practise the religion.

We also learnt that they have been on a trip to the Gurdwara. This is where Sikhs go to worship their gods, bow in front of their holy book and where they share stories from it. The lady who talked to them chose a little girl named Hannah to demonstrate how to put a turban on . Back in the assembly, they told us that they carried a little metal sword called Kippah.

It was a fantastic assembly and we cannot wait for their next one!
