Year 1 trip to Skipton castle

On Tuesday, 1W and 1G went to Skipton castle. They had a brilliant day and not a drop of rain fell to the floor! They learnt about the history behind it and what life was like living inside of it!

Firstly, the excited children entered the old castle with fading stone and met their tour guide before walking into the room (the kitchen). In the kitchen, there was a large oven used to cook bread and meat. Did you know that in the banquet hall the poor people where given the bad food and the rich people get the tasty food.

Later, they entered the dungeon and that was when they got scared because the tour guide turned off all of the lights to show what the prisoners had to go through every day. How terrifying! In the end, Year 1 had an amazing time visiting Skipton and learnt lots about castles in their first hand experience. We’re sure they would love to visit again.
