On Monday, Blakehill discovered that it was space week and to start off the week they got to have fun and learn about the huge and fascinating area around them.
All of the year groups got to go into the gigantic planetarium and find out different things about space. Reception got to go in first, and when they came out, they were really happy and excited to have learnt about space and what its like outside of our world. All of the years had a turn and had a fantastic time.
Finally, it was Year 6’s turn and when they went inside they saw lots of stars in the deep, dark sky. They felt like they were in space already. In there, they saw 2 two planets that looked like stars but were actually two of the biggest planets in the solar system. Year 6 managed to identify them because they were the only things that weren’t flickering. All the children also learnt about constellations, the shapes stars make in the sky, and spent time trying to identify them which was both a challenge and great fun.
Everyone enjoyed the planetarium and it was a great introduction into the space focus where children will produce pieces of writing around the theme for display.
