MacMillian Coffee Morning

On Friday 25th September Blakehill will have an amazing coffee morning to try help raise money for  MacMillian Cancer Support- a charity that helps raise money to help and support people with cancer and their families. There will be all sorts of buns and drinks for us to stuff our faces with and meet other people. For the little ones, Peppa Pig will be here to take a photo and give them (and maybe YOU) a big warm, cosy hug! It will start at 9:00 in the morning and will end at 10:30 with a thank you from the main man, Mr.Patterson. Any donations of cakes will have to be in by Thursday the 24th at the latest. Please bring in any friends and family so we can all have a nice get together an hopefully raise some money for us to give to MacMillian so they get that one step closer to finding a cure for the dreadful cancer that gives a horrible end to life. Thank You!

The Railway Children

On Tuesday the whole school was treated to a wonderful performance of The Railway Children. It was amazing! Everyone was excited and we all enjoyed it. The people who were putting on the fantastic performance of The Railway Children did an a amazing job for both performances that they did for Key Stage One and Key Stage Two. But we wouldn’t have seen something so fantastic if it weren’t for the fundraising done by the PTFA , many thanks to themA and you guys for enjoying it. Their performance were so good that they got two round of applause and a huge thank you from both of the performances that they did.

Also, at the end when everyone had gone apart from the year sixes they did a mini half of an hour workshop with them. They taught them how to act and how they changed there costumes so quickly and last but not least they taught them how they changed their voices. The year sixes quoted that it was extremely fun and a great experience for all.

Become a Blakehill Blogger

Are you interested in what happens around school?

Do you like to be in the know about what’s happening in Blakehill and what is coming up?

If you do, Blogging Club is for you!

We write about events, learning and exciting things that have happened throughout the week and things that we are looking forward to.

The club is on a Friday evening. It starts at 3:15 and ends at 4:15. We even get treats like cake!

If you are interested in becoming a Blakehill  Blogger  go and speak to Mr. Lowe or Miss.Lea.

Why we became Blakehill Bloggers

Since we joined Blakehill we have always wanted to be involved in school life and we found that the blog was the perfect way to be at the heart of what goes on in the school and sharing it for everyone to see. We both love to write and type which are good skills to have when it comes to blogging.

If you are interested in becoming a Blakehill Blogger, speak to Mr Lowe or Miss Lea and tell them why you would make such a good blogger.

Bradford Music and Arts Service

Today we were treated to a fantastic music assembly by The Bradford Music and Arts Service. They played a whole host of songs and different types of music, from Mary had a Little Lamb right through to Beethoven. The aim of the assembly was to inspire us to play musical instruments.

They played and introduced a number of different instruments including: the violin, the trumpet, the trombone, the flute, the clarinet, the saxophone, the keyboard, ukulele and the guitar.

They offer lessons on a number of instruments including those that are listed above.

If you are interested in learning to play an instrument application forms are in the school office. The cost of the lesson is similar to the price of a swimming lesson and if you don’t have an instrument they can be rented from the service.

Playing an instrument not for you? They also offer a Song Start service which involves dance, drama and singing.

Would you like to become a Blakehill Blogger?

Blakehill Bloggers will be responsible for writing posts for our school blog. They will interview people, take pictures and record videos of events around school then write about the events on our blog. For example, a Blakehill Blogger may take photos of a sports tournament and then write about it on the blog. Or they may interview other children about school dinners and write a post about them.

To apply to become a Blakehill Blogger, collect an application form from your teacher. You will need to write an example of a post for the blog. Then list 3 ideas you have for more posts for the blog. Finally, a short piece about why you want to be a Blakehill Blogger.

Good Luck! 🙂
