Ingleborough Day 3

It’s been another action packed day in Clapham.

Group 1 took part in gorge scrambling and tree climbing.

Group 2 went gorge scrambling and caving.

Groups 3 and 4 went on the long walk while group 5 went tree climbing and caving.

Ingleborough Day 2

Year 5 woke up early on day 2 to eat their cooked breakfasts before a busy day. During the 9am briefing, each group found out what they were doing.

Groups 1 and 2 went on the long walk, although partially shortened due to rain, and had a great time. They headed from Ingleborough hall all the way to Austwick and back where they learnt about the history of the area, interesting local stories and developed their map reading skills.

They other 3 groups took part in two different activities. All the groups went gorge scrambling which they found extremely exciting and ended up getting quite wet! Groups 3 and 5 also completed a village study which they will be using to compare with Idle when they return to school. For their second activity, group 4 went tree climbing which again was well enjoyed.

After all the activities, the children settled down for tea and evening activities which are either bat hunting or a film and tuck night.

Tomorrow sees the majority of the groups completing the activities that their peers did today with one group being the first take part in caving. I’m sure it will be another exciting day and we are all hoping the rain sticks away.

Year 6 SATS

This week, both Year 6 classes have tried their very hardest to get the best scores they could possibly in their SATS.

Year 6 children were split into 3 groups. Unfortunately, the first group had to be in school by 8:00. On Monday, Year 6 had to face their biggest fart: Sats (hehehe). Firstly, they had to do the SPAG and the spelling test that had 20 questions. Both classes got through the tests with ease.

After that, they had their reading test. Most of Year 6 were worried about finishing this test , however it was easier than they thought. Lastly, they had their maths and arithmetic tests. After that, it was freedom!

Year 6 are now thinking about their ( hopefully ) fabulous production at the end of the year along with relaxing.

We hope that Year 6 have an amazing rest of the year ( without having to worry about tests 🙂 )

Year 5 trip to St Cuthbert’s church

On Thursday Year 5,went to the amazing St Cuthbert’s church to learn about Easter. First, they listened to the story of Easter then did some activities which included: crosswords, word searches and planting their very own plant. Finally they went back to school because they had finished their craft activities. Everybody was really tired and wanted to fall into a deep sleep as soon as they got home. They massively enjoyed the fabulous trip to St Cuthbert’s church and hope to go again.

Ingleborough Hall – Wednesday

Although the sun wasn’t out today, this did not stop us from continuing our fun activities in Clapham.

Group 1 enjoyed tree climbing with Mrs Hall this morning and gorge scrambling this afternoon with Mrs Ross. What a wonderful and enthusiastic group they were.
Group 2 took part in gorge scrambling with Mrs Cavalier-Lumley and Mrs Hudson this morning followed by a History learning walk around the village with Mrs Hall and Mrs Cavalier-Lumley.

Group 3 took the clockwise route on the long walk with Mrs Javed and Mr Cavalier-Lumley whist Mr Patterson and Mrs Horrocks took group 4 n the anticlockwise route.
Finally group 5 completed the village study with Mr Rhodes and Mrs Ross and spent the afternoon caving.
Each group continued to impress the adults they were working with.
In the evening, In the evening the children enjoyed activities such as Nightline, Batz and the tunnels and telescope. Those children who completed the night activities yesterday enjoyed a DVD.

Below are the pictures of the groups enjoying their activities.

SATS ARE OVER!

After a long, hard and stressful week, SATs are FINALLY over! Year 6 are very relieved and are anxious to see what results they will get, but meanwhile its time to focus on transition and preparing for Year 7! Yesterday afternoon, whilst watching a well-earned movie, Mrs Keighley kindly brought in some yummy ice lollies for them all to enjoy as a reward for their hard work, and they were very much appreciated! Today (Friday), year 6 have had a fantastic day, and got to have a relaxing time, which they really needed after the stress-filled week: movies have been watched, biscuits and buns have been eaten and everybody has been able to relieve their stress!

Well done Year 6 for all of your hard work and determination, and we hope you look forward to the rest of your time at Blakehill!

Ingleborough Hall Monday

Today Year 5 arrived at Ingleborough Hall and after getting their kits issued it was straight into action as we were off the the Ingleborough Show Cave. In the caves we learnt all about the rock formations. After a quick march back to Ingleborough Hall, we had a fire alarm test before it was time for tea. Once tea was finished the children had a chance to explore the grounds and play outside before campfire stories with Dominic. Check out the pictures below and leave us a comment.
