Sports day year 3 year 4

On Thursday afternoon Year 3 and 4 finally had their chance to shine at their Sports Days! It was the third time lucky and we finally got good weather! There were four events for everyone to take part in. They were ; the obstacle course, the egg and spoon race, the skipping race and the welly race! Everyone had a great time! Children from each class even had the chance to take part in a relay race. They did a fantastic job and everyone really enjoyed themselves!

LAP Sports Day

Today a select number of children from Year 1 to Year 6 were lucky enough to go to Swain House Primary School to attend the LAP Sports Day! They had a fantastic time and all did their very best. It was great to see members of the school competing together and encouraging not only themselves but also the other schools, they should be very proud of their sportsmanship. The staff that went with them said they were an absolute pleasure to take. Sadly, they didn’t any Gold medals but the Year 3s and Year 4s came away with silver medals and Aaron in 4L won Male Athlete of the tournament! Have a look at some what a great time they had below.

Well done to everyone who went along.

Sports Day For Year 5 And 6

Yesterday (Thursday 19th) Years 5 and 6 did their sports day. They had really fun and took part in every race. Non of the year 5’s and 6’s wanted to miss out! They were all really proud of themselves at the end of sports day even if their team didn’t come first. They all tried hard and their work paid off. They were all super happy at the end of the day and they all remembered that it didn’t matter if their team didn’t win it was all about the taking part. Year 3 Gymnastics

Wednesday, this week, a selection of children from Year 3 were chosen to take part in a LAP gymnastics competition. For the competition they had to preform a dance sequence, to a theme of their choice, that including key gymnastic moves and positions. Our theme was STAR WARS!
The worked on the routine for a number of weeks and made Blakehill very proud when they came away with 2nd place!
Well done to Luke, Gracie, Lois, Adam, Miley, Libby and Caellen.

Watch their routine below and leave comment to let them know how well they did!

Shooting Stars first full PE lesson

Today the reception children in Shooting Stars had there very first full PE lesson. They had been in the hall before and taken part in a variety of activities but had only removed their shoes, socks and jumpers. However, today we got fully changed into our PE kits!
The children all managed really well and only a few needed adult help.
All children would continue to benefit from practising to fasten/unfasten buttons, especially on their polo shirts, removing of jumpers and organising clothes ready to put back on (turning them from inside out and folding neatly). Girls also need time to practise putting on and taking off tights.
Once they were changed they took part in a music and movement session, listening to parts of the Gruffalo story and then moving as the different creatures. They really enjoyed themselves!
