Tomorrow is Queen Elizabeth’s birthday and to celebrate it we have all come to school today dressed in red, white and blue. Someone even came dressed as the Queen! In our lessons we have all been learning about the Queen too.
Did you know…
That has Queen has two birthdays, her actual birthday is on 21st of April and her second is on the second Saturday in June. Since September 2015, her Majesty is the United Kingdom’s longest reigning monarch (king or Queen). The Queen entered the record books as Britain’s longest reigning monarch after surpassing the reign of her great-great-grandmother, Queen Victoria.
Tomorrow it is an important celebration because it’s the Queens birthday! Yes I know what your thinking, “The Queen had her birthday on the 21st April.” This is true, her birthday is on that date, but lucky for the Queen she has two birthdays! Her birthday is tomorrow on Saturday, it is a very special celebration. It is called Trooping the Colour, this is where she makes sure that all of the soldiers or guards are presentable and ready to protect the country. As you know the Queen is a very important person so it is going to be on your (everyone’s) television, so if you like you can go ahead and watch her birthday parade, well not her actual birthday or then we would be invading her privacy. If you didn’t know the Queen is now ninety! And she is the longest serving monarch. WOW! Happy Birthday Queen Elizabeth! We all can’t wait to celebrate her birthday tomorrow!
Today, Blakehill celebrated the Queens 90th birthday, yeah I know the Queen had her birthday like two months ago but if you didn’t already know the Queen has two birthdays!!! And Blakehill did this by coming to school dressed as a queen, king, knight, prince or princess. But if that wasn’t your thing you could come in the England colours of wait for it …… Red, White and Blue because that’s the colours of Union Jack, which is the flag of the united Kingdom!
Over the last two days Blakehill has been all out Royal, doing lots of work all about eh queen and the royal family. Our class some did writing , ART and reading comprehensions (y6). We’ve all had a fantastic time and we all hope the queen has a fantastic birthday!!
As a special treat, for the Queens big day, we even had a picnic for our lunch. We were hoping to have it on the field but due to the “summer weater” (rain) we had to have it in the hall on matts – we still had a great time.
