Y2 visit St.Cuthberts Church

Today Y2 went on a trip to St.Cuthberts church in Wrose. They had a brilliant time. They had to find different clothes or objects from different bibles. There was a Chinese bible a Jewish bible and an English bible. Also a Jewish Torah which they rolled out . They saw the crown of thorns that Jesus wore on the cross. The people who spoke to the whole class had been to our school before and they were called Mr Froud and Mr Blake.

Why we became Blakehill Bloggers

Since we joined Blakehill we have always wanted to be involved in school life and we found that the blog was the perfect way to be at the heart of what goes on in the school and sharing it for everyone to see. We both love to write and type which are good skills to have when it comes to blogging.

If you are interested in becoming a Blakehill Blogger, speak to Mr Lowe or Miss Lea and tell them why you would make such a good blogger.

Ruby’s Egyptian report about Cleopatra 4L

cleopatraCleopatra VII

Introduction
Have you ever wondered who Cleopatra VII was? And what she does? Now is your chance to find out loads about her. None of this is my opinion so you’ll have to believe me. Cleopatra was the queen of Egypt, kings and queens were called Pharaohs, so Cleopatra was one. Any Pharaoh had ruled for 3,000 years all the way back in time BC! This amazing ruler (Pharaoh) lived in Greece, but moved to ancient Egypt when Alexander the Great invaded. Also Cleopatra had a few siblings. Read on for more funtastic facts…

Family and early life
Cleopatra was born by her parents Ptomemy XII Aulets (dad) and Cleopatra V of Egypt. Amazingly, Cleopatra VII was born a princess. Later on her mother had a baby boy which was Cleo’s brother. Unfortunately, at 30BC Cleo died. She only lived for 39 years. Cleopatra’s family, each individual one, moved to Greece, not just the people she lived with.

On the reign
When Cleopatra owned the throne in Egypt she liked Julius Ceaser  who was a Roman Emperor at the time, so they got married. At the time, they had 3 children. Well, before Cleopatra VII was on the throne Tutancarman owned it. When Julius left Cleo she got married to Mark Antony. Both of Cleo’s husbands shared the throne. At the age of 19 Cleopatra was declared Pharaoh. So she ruled for 21 years.

Conclusion
Thank you for reading, I hope you liked my funtastic facts!

Class Dojo

Blakehill Primary have introduced a new behaviour reward system. It is called class dojo. When a child does something positive such as being on task or working hard they receive a dojo point. But if you do something negative you may lose a dojo point. At Celebration Assembly the teachers might give a certificate to the star of the week who has the most dojo points.

Thank you Mrs Patterson for discovering dojos!

Year 4’s bun sale to save whale!

On Friday 22nd May there was a bun sale held in year 4. At play time 4S and 4L held a bun sale. Every year group helped out with making and buying buns.

Thank you all parents and pupils who helped out with the sale!

With you helping out with the buns we raised:

£180.40

This will help us adopt 2 Orca whales. One for each class! We actually raised more than we needed so we have decided to donate the extra £65.40 to the Bradford Burns Unit to support their BCFC appeal.

4L class assembly

On Friday 15th of May 2015 4L delivered their class assembly. The assembly was about Orca whales and how they are being captured and kept in captivity. At the beginning of the assembly there was a clip put on that all of 4L had already watched. The video was about performing whales and how they don’t like it. Also, the video had Orcas splashing people while they come into their own water stage. Some of 4L read persuasion texts and descriptions of Whales in captivity. At the end 4L told the school that Year 4 will be hosting bun sale on the 22nd of May to raise money to adopt an Orca whale called Fife.

Easter Egg Appeal

As you all know, we are doing an Easter Egg Appeal at Blakehill. So far we have about 60 Easter eggs we all hope we can get even more. We are doing the Easter Egg Appeal because lots of children do not get Easter eggs for Easter around Bradford. Mr Cavalier-Lumley is extremely excited to see how many eggs we collect as he is the one who helps organise the Easter Egg Appeal. Our school has been doing the Easter Egg Appeal for several years.
