Year 3 School Linking

School linking is where Blakehill primary and West born meet together and become friends. The first meet up for this year’s Year 3 was on Thursday at Nell Bank in Ilkley. They took part in some fun activities like leaf pile building , orienteering and lots more that we can’t think of. The idea is to make friends with children from another school and a different area of Bradford.

On site, they developed their team building skills and had lots of fun. The children made new friends and cannot wait to meet them again later on in the year when both Year 3 classes meet again at both Blakehill and Westbourne.

YEAR 3 SCHOOL LINKING

Yesterday, Westbourne (Year 3) came to finish our linking project. Blakehill made posters to welcome in Westbourne when they come into the hall. It was the third time we have met up because we first met them at Nell Bank then went to visit them at their school.

When Westbourne arrived we split up into 2 classes and then we split the classes in half. There was 4 groups: group 1,group 2,group 3 and group 4. Each group was made up of children from Blakehill and Westbourne and we worked in pairs. There were 4 activities: building Lego houses, P-E, making fact hands and Q-R code hunt (P-S the answer is friendship). So everyone could have a go at everything, all the groups switched around.

We had lots of fun working together to build our dream school together as well as learning about each other to write facts on our fact fingers. We also worked and play together to play noughts and crosses, pass the tennis ball and blindfolded obstacle course. Finally we used the iPads and worked together to find QR codes, solve a puzzle and then un-jumble the ten letters we had collected to spell the word friendship.

All the teachers and children really enjoyed see our new friends again and we wish we could do it again.

Year 3 School Linking

As part of the School Linking Project, Year 3 went to visit Year 3 at Westbourne primary school. The first thing they did was to get on the bus and set off on the short journey to Manningham in Bradford. When they got to Westbourne Primary School, they meet with their partners that they meet with at Nell Bank a few months ago .They then split into 3 groups for the day.

Their first activity was to match jigsaw shapes collage with their partners, they were solving a puzzle which was teaching them to work together and to get a long with each other. As soon as they finished the fist activity, they moved on to the 2nd activity which was outdoors. The outdoor activity was to tie their partners legs and to make them knock over the cones whilst being blindfolded and guiding them.

Their 3 activity was a parachute game were they had to work together to not drop the ball and just keep it on. Then, after a while, they were allowed to knock the ball off the parachute. Before leaving, they played one last game, the shark game! Everyone had a fantastic day and now our Year 3 classes can’t wait for Westbourne to visit them next half term.

Year 3 School Linking Project

On Wednesday, Year 3 met up with Westbourne Primary School for the School Linking Project. This year, Blakehill was hosting and they had a fantastic time meeting new people and doing the fun activities together. To start off they did some sports games outside on the field. This included a challenging obstacle course, full of different twists and turns. They did pass the hula hoop where you cannot use your hands and have to pass the hoop around the circle. It’s tricky! They looked like jelly men wiggling around!

As well as this, they did pebble painting which was based on a book called Only You. This story was all about you being yourself and persevering to be the best you can. We recommend this book, it makes you feel good about yourself! They designed each pebble to make it look like a part of a picture and turned out really well! Take a look at the display by the school office to find out more about what they did and how! A while after, they designed their own pebble to remember their school linking and their new friend!

After, they began to do some Lego. This included trying to design their ideal school that they would go to everyday and maybe even live there! They found this really fun and loved to try out the different designs that they could make with each colour of the lego bricks!

To wrap it all up, each pupil designed a hand, recording their favourite food, favourite television show, their name, favourite thing to do and their friend. After, all of the teachers collected them up and made it into a beautiful, colourful display to show off to their schools!

Sadly, this would be the very last time they saw their new friends through the School Linking Project but I’m sure they will all have fantastic memories of their time together. Good luck in your future life.

School linking year 3

After a lot of work, of letters and posters year 3 have met up with the Children from Westbourne again. Back in November they all went to Nellbank  and met for the first time and then this week they were reunited when Blakehill went to Westbourne to pay them a visit. school.

It was a fantastic day! when they arrived they were greeted with banners and lots of smiley faces and after meeting their partners again and a quick game they were straight into some of the fun activities they were doing throughout the day. The activities included; parachute games, a QR code trail, Venn diagrams and a 1/2 faces activity finding out the similarities the pairs shared. Before they came back to Blakehill all the children met in the hall and reflected on the best part of their day before saying goodbye to their partners. I hope they all had a great day because I know I did when I did it last year !

Year 3 meet Westbourne at Nell Bank

On Wednesday 2nd December, Year 3 went to Nell Bank as part of the School Linking Network. The school we are linked with is Westbourne primary school.
The kids chose a partner from the Year 3 class at Westbourne and throughout the day they learnt a lot about each other and took part in a number of activities. They had a challenge to try and build the tallest tower out of sticks and they also did a scavenger hunt down in the little woods as well as being able to play on the adventure play area. At the end of the day they said goodbye and left on the coach. Overall everyone had a fabulous day and made some new friends.
