Inspired by Yorkshire cricketer Alex Lees

Hothfielders welcomed cricketer Alex Lees to school this afternoon. He answered a lot of questions in a special assembly – telling us all about how he started playing cricket at age 4, became part of the Yorkshire academy and his more recent trip to South Africa with the England Lions. He also gave us all some useful tips on how to improve our game and what it takes to be a good captain of your team.
Alex then stayed for a coaching session with some of our keen Year 5/6 cricketers in the glorious sunshine. He gave tips on all aspects of the game – catching, throwing, bowling and, of course, batting.
We were very grateful to Alex for sparing the time to visit us today and I’m sure he has inspired all of us!

Rising to the Three Peaks Challenge

After the Pen-y-Ghent ‘washout’ before Easter, a good number of Hothfielders rose to the challenge of climbing Whernside on Saturday in beautiful sunshine.

Congratulations to all – Mrs Carter reported on cheerful chatter and a wonderful spirit all the way up… – and down!

If you would like to join the next challenge – to climb Ingleborough – then do come along – all walkers meet at the Wesley Place Car Park at 8am on Saturday 16th May…
