Year 5 and 6 Football

On Wednesday evening we took part in the Oakbank football competition for year 5 and 6 boys football teams.

Muddy conditions didn’t deter us from playing some fluid passing football. We lost the first two matches by narrow score lines. Our attacking play improved significantly in our final three matches causing us to run out as winners by a large margin in all of the games.

Year 4 Behind the Scenes at the Coop…

Year 4 children were treated to a behind the scenes tour of the Co op this week, as part of their new project learning about where our food comes from.   They explored  the bakery, where the smell of freshly baked bread whetted their taste buds and  then upstairs to the offices, where they were allowed to shout “Hello!” into the tannoy  much to the surprise of the unsuspecting shoppers down below!   One pupil even got to try out the Manager’s chair!

The children were fascinated and asked lots of interesting questions.  Thank you so much to Andrea and James for a wonderful visit and also for the lovely fruit given to the children.    img_1649 img_1653 img_1630

After the rain…

We had a beautiful rainbow appear over our school this week. Lots of smiles after the rain stopped.

This Week’s SPOTS…

Keeping our wonderful  Hothfield running tradition,  30 children took part in the 1st of this year’s KCAC cross country challenge events at Cliffe Castle on Wednesday.  The children tackled the tough course with great determination which added to the buzz of excitement and fun.   Well done to them all and thank you very much for the great support from all our parents.  We are looking forward to the second race on 16.11.16.

Buckden Residential 2016

This week’s SPOTS. ..

Year 6 setting off on their adventures

This morning we waved off some of our year 6 pupils as they set off to Buckden Hall. We’re looking forward to seeing the photos and hearing the tales of their adventures when they return.

Fabulous Hothfield Runners

Record numbers of our Hothfield athletes  (34 children from Years 3-6)  represented the school in the first cross country of the season, which took place on Wednesday afternoon at South Craven.   It was a brilliant event with a great atmosphere and hundreds of children taking part from local schools.   The weather held and the children showed great determination  and team spirit as they raced the 1KM course and  cheered on other athletes.    A special well done to those children, who were racing for the first time and also to our  3 amazing medal winners, who have qualified for the County championships in Giggleswick next week  – Good Luck    Finally,   a big thank you to all our parents who came to support the children and help us with transport and also to Mrs Meakin.  We are looking forward to the first of the KCAC races coming up at Cliffe Castle on the 12th October.  img_1483 img_1485 img_1491 img_1504 img_1503 img_1487 img_1495 img_1498 img_1499 img_1507
