Year 5 Travel Back in Time

The Year 5 children today got to experience life as scholars at Moorside Board School. During our trip to Bradford Industrial Museum, the 2 classes got into character as Victorian schoolchildren and were able to try out ink dip pens, do arithmetic using slate boards and pencils, to sing authentic hymns and songs and to recite poetry.

When not in the schoolroom, we enjoyed touring the various Victorian exhibits in the museum – especially seeing some of the mill machines in action and comparing life in a back-to-back terrace with the luxurious rooms of the Mill Manager’s house.

Well done to all the children for representing the school so well and fully engaging with the activities on offer. We hope you had a great time. And a big thank you to our parent volunteers on the day and to all home adults for helping to dress the children in such splendid Victorian outfits!

P.S. No smiling allowed in this photo…

Incredible ‘Cold Lands’ homework from Year 4

During this half term, our Year 4 children (and their adults) have been using their imagination to complete homework projects linked to ‘Cold Lands’.

These are not due in until the final week of term but already we have had:

  • Poems
  • Stories
  • Fact books
  • PowerPoint presentations
  • Giant 3D snowflakes
  • Lots of artwork
  • And many other ideas

In the past week we have even had sugar igloos and a penguin themed cake:

Keep it up Year 4s, you’re creating some fantastic work!
