Year 3 Skype Back in Time to 1924

Howard Carter

On Thursday, Year 3 went back in time to 1924 and ‘Skyped Howard Carter’. He told us how he found the tomb of Tutankhamun and what treasure was inside. The children asked him lots of questions about his adventures and how he found the tomb.  The children found out lots of information and some want to become archaeologists.

Education City and Times Tables Bee

Education City is a great way for children to learn their Times Tables. they love singing along to the Times Tables songs and completing the activities. They can now access this at home, as we have been given a trial of home access for Education City until January 2016. Children use their normal login details. If they have any problems they should see their class teacher or Mrs Fairburn. If you have an i-pad, you can still access Education City by downloading a free app called Puffin Academy which will allow access to the activities.

Book of the Week By 6S

Book of the Week 6S

Our book of the week is ‘The Fire Eternal’, the 4th book of the series, ‘The Last Dragon Chronicles’.

The first book of the series is The Fire. This book starts a series of dragon and magical fire.

This book is set five years after the end of the last one, Fire Star.

The other books are The Fire Within, Ice Fire, Fire Star, The Fire Eternal, Dark Fire, Fire World and The Ascending Fire. Then there is a guide for the books which is called Rain and Fire.

4F’s Book of the Week

This week, 4F have chosen How to Train Your Dragon by Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III.  He is helped by Cresseda Cowell.  This is our class book and we have been enjoying it very much.

The book is about Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the Third who was an awesome sword fighter, a dragon-whisperer and the greatest Viking Hero that ever lived.

Can Hiccup pass the Dragon Initiation Programme with a toothless dragon and fight the Seadragonus Giganticus Maximus before it gobbles up every Viking on Berk?  It’s time for Hiccup to learn how to be a hero.

3B’s Book Of The Week

3B have chosen Cliffhanger by Jacqueline Wilson as their Book of the Week.  They think the book is great.  They liked the book because:

It made them laugh.

Biscuits is a cheeky character who loves biscuits, food and cola.

Tim shows resilience and never gives up.

The book tells the story of Tim who finds himself sent on an adventure holiday by his Mum and Dad. Tim hates all sports so an adventure holiday isn’t exactly his idea of fun. When he’s there, though, he meets some new friends, Biscuits, Giles and Kelly. By the end of the book Tim’s experiences have transformed his view of adventure holidays and himself.

Post your review of the book.
