Book Club News

Our Book Club met on Friday Lunchtime for the first time this half term. We were catching up our discussions about 2 very different authors. The first was Cathy Cassidy, she writes books aimed mostly for girls about a character called Daizy Star and her adventures with her friends and her dad who keeps having crazy ideas to change his family’s lifestyle! We had a mixed reception, Saffron really likes them but the rest of us weren’t as keen! We felt the books were a little contrived, trying too hard to be funny and not as realistic as we would like. We compared them to the Wimpy Kid books which are more humorous and believable.

The second author was Enid Blyton who wrote the Famous Five series. Everyone had read 1 or 2 of these books and the overall opinion was they were a fantastic read.I set the group a task – to find out more about the author and when these books were written – do you know? Maybe you could add a comment! It was interesting that the books written most recently weren’t as popluar as I thought they would be!

We are devising a book character quiz which will be open for everyone to  try – it will have a prize for the winner so watch out for more news!

We meet again next Friday lunchtime and as always new members are most welcome!

Hello Amethyst class.

I watched you having a brilliant day at Skipton castle yesterday. I also saw you find out where Draco has gone to live.  The Enchanted Forest is a magical place and I know you would like to find out more about this place.

I have given Draco a magi ipad so he can start his own blog for you and he to write to one another.

Have fun finding out more about Draco and the Enchanted Forest.
