Merlin’s blog

on June 2, 2012

Hello Amethyst class.

I watched you having a brilliant day at Skipton castle yesterday. I also saw you find out where Draco has gone to live.  The Enchanted Forest is a magical place and I know you would like to find out more about this place.

I have given Draco a magi ipad so he can start his own blog for you and he to write to one another.

Have fun finding out more about Draco and the Enchanted Forest.

Crikey, this looks mysterious. Whatever this object is I’ll need a risk assessment for it. Amethyst class can you help me with this?

  2. Amethyst class says:

Thank you Merlin for this magical egg. We will put it on a pillow to keep it warm, safe and sound.

  3. Rebecca Goulding says:

    Is the egg breakable?
    Can you hear anything inside?

  4. opsteacher says:

Hi Amethyst class. Can you answer Merlin’s new questions?
Can you think of any animals that lay eggs? Perhaps you can find out what these animals to do look after them?

    Take care of the egg.

    Dear Merlin,
Thank you for this magical egg. Here are some ideas of what we think might be inside; an ostrich, a chick, a changing magical creature, a magical bird, a dragon or a koala bear. Some people think they can hear something inside the egg and some people don’t. Some people think it is breakable and some people don’t. We will put the egg somewhere high so no-one can make it fall off. We will check on it every day to make sure that nothing terrible happens to it.

Hello Amethyst class. Thank you for your ideas about what could be inside the egg they’re very interesting. Do koala bears lay eggs?
Some of you have mentioned that you think the egg may contain a magical bird or even a dragon. Perhaps you could draw me a picture of these creatures and write about them for me?
I look forward to seeing and reading these.

    Dear Merlin,
Thank you for your message. No, Koala bears don’t lay eggs. We have been writing about what we think is in the egg.Harry thought that it might be a huge, green dragon. Annie thought that maybe it could be a sparkly, beautiful dinosaur. Rebecca thought that maybe it could be a beautiful, sparkly fairy princess.Merlin, we would like to know where you live? Do you know what is inside the egg?

  7. Joash Carter says:

no Merlin, koala bears don’t lay eggs.
i think there is a frog mouthed turtle in the egg.
When is the egg going to hatch?
    Thank you

There is a hole in the egg. I can see something yellow.

  9. Amethyst class says:

    Dear Merlin,
We have written about the fantasy creature and we are going to draw it this afternoon. Do you and Gandalf live together? What does Gandalf look like? What did Gandalf say to you in the Lake District? Where do you live? Declan thinks that there is a little chick in the egg because there is a little hole and he can see yellow.Lily thinks there is a gigantic dinosaur with sharp teeth in the egg.

      Hello Amethyst class,
I don’t live with Gandalf. I live in the misty caves in the magical kingdom of Camelot.
Gandalf is 10 feet tall and has a long grey beard. He has emerald green eyes and carries a magic staff which he uses to cast spells.
Gandalf told me that the egg will hatch into a yellow spiked back dragon. This is a very rare type of dragon which is very shy. It is very good at hiding from people. Declan could probably see the yellow colour of one of its spikes. If it hatches it will try to escape and find its mother.
I’ll check on the egg tonight when it’s dark.

Joash is right koalas bears don’t lay eggs and i have thought of something great. It may be a dinasour egg and its Mummy may have lost it and be looking for it so maybe we should put a poster up saying Do you know whose egg it is?

    • opsteacher says:

      Hi Annie

I think the idea of making posters is a really good one. If the eggs mother sees it she will know where the egg is and she can come and collect it.

    Dear Merlin,
We are going to look for clues about where the baby dragon is and then we can track it down.We could look for fur and that may be a clue as to where it might be.If we find some big footprints we could follow them.It might have left some egg shell in the playground.

      Hello everyone

These are all good ideas. I’ve just been to see Mr Burns and he has told me that you all have been looking for the baby dragon and you’ve found lots of clues.
I know that Lily had a very good idea and I’m going to send someone to school tomorrow to help you. Please read the new blog above.

      Hello Amethyst class

I have just visited your classroom and can see that you have been very busy today. I think your dragon prints are fantastic and your 3D dragons will be fantastic when they are finished.
I have seen the baby dragon in the village but he is very shy and very fast so I cannot keep up with it.
Try to finish your models and pictures and put them somewhere the baby dragon will be able to see them.

I think the baby dragon has escaped from the church. We have not seen the baby dragon yet. Maybe it is hiding from the rain and waiting for the sun to come out.

      Hello Lewis

I think you are right. The weather has been dreadful and I think the dragon will be sheltering somwhere. There are so many places in and around Oxenhope that it could go. I wonder if we will ever find it?

Yes the dragon is very fast and because it is still very small it is even more difficult to find. It will eventually grow into a bigger dragon and it will be easier to find.

      Hello Harry

Draco will have loved the warm sunny weather. He might have lapped up some cool, fresh water with his long, red, forked tongue. I’m not sure Draco is old enough to swim yet though.

    Hi Merlin,
I think the the dragon might of gone to the duck pond
because people feed the ducks and he might
be able to get some food. I have had a look but it
wasn’t there, maybe it could be hiding under the bushes.

    • opsteacher says:

      Hello Merlin

The duck pond sounds like a very good habitat for a baby dragon. Food, water and shelter are all found there.
