# Year 4 Photos – Spring 1

We have been very busy this half term! Here are some photos to prove it!!

In Maths, we have been learning about angles, symmetry, perimeter and properties of 2D shapes. In Science, the rice experiment taught us that vibrations create sound and we investigated how to make a low and high pitched sound with various instruments.

In English, we learnt a Polish legend about a clever cobbler who defeated a terrible dragon and a rhythm and rap poem about an iguana. In RE, we learnt how Hindus worship at home and in a Mandir and created a Hindu shine in our classroom. In French, we learn to name the parts of the body and what to say at the doctor’s. We also took part in a fantastic workshop on the Ancient Egyptian mummies!

Well done, Year 4!

# Making Matzoh in Year 4

Today Year 4 made some Matzoh bread in RE as they were learning about the Jewish festival called Passover or Pesach. This festival commemorates the Exodus (Moses leading the Jewish people out of Egypt).
The ingredients needed to make this flat, unleavened bread are olive oil, flour, water and salt.
The children enjoyed making and eating this bread with Mrs Rashid.
Well done to everyone involved.

Mrs Hallworth

# Year 6 Function Machines

In problem solving lessons, Year 6 have been learning about function machines and pretending to be human machines. The children were given a number then they had to use the function to change the number and give an output. In groups the children then created a machine for the other children, they had to guess the function using trial and error and patterns.

Can you solve this function machine by giving another example?

# Year 6 Maths Video – How to…

In Year 6 we have been making ‘How to’ videos to show other children how to work out maths problems. We have learnt that teaching someone else do something is a good way to remember methods and the videos can help others too.

There is also a video of out-takes which is quite funny too.

Hope you like them.
