As part of our Future Learning Partnership, four children from year two had a go at some kick-boxing today. They went up to BBEC and did lots of different warm up activities, learnt lots of different kicks, and then put some of the moves that they had learnt into combinations. Here are some pictures from the afternoon:

Sports Day

On Friday morning, the whole school took part in Sport’s Day! Everyone had a great time and the overall winners were JUPITER! Well done to everyone who competed – especially the parents who ran in the race at the end! A big thanks to all the year six children who helped on the stations, and Mrs Kauser for providing refreshments. The video below contains the photos from the morning…

The football team played a friendly match against Farfield on Monday night. It was an entertaining game and one which St Paul’s dominated. There was some excellent football on display, a hat-trick from Alfie, and a big winning margin of 6-0.

Sports Day Practice

Yesterday, year six went to the cricket field with year one and two. When they arrived, the children split into their families. The year six children in each family then showed the younger children what they should be doing for each activities.

Football Match

Yesterday, a selection of year six pupils walked across the road to play a friendly football match against St Winifred’s. The match was split into three sections, each one 15 minutes long, and was a closely fought contest.

Throughout the game St paul’s appeared to be the slightly stronger team – creating the better opportunities and having more attempts at goal. However, having remained 0-0 for the first two parts of the game, disaster struck in the final part of it. First, the opposition scored a goal from close range to take a 1-0 lead, before adding another sucker punch in the dying moments to go 2-0 up.

Overall, the players performed really well. We are looking to play another match in the coming weeks which hopefully will end with a better result.

Fun new games in PE!

Year six were treated to a great morning of Crown Green Bowling at Wibsey Park by Mick, Edwina and Gary – Wibsey Bowling Club Chairman. On arrival, we split into groups and undertook our own matches and competitions.

Unfortunately, Mrs Lupton’s team managed to beat Mr Platt’s team in the match that they were participating in.

Thanks you for inviting us – we hope to do it again soon.

Marley Football Festival

Yesterday, 10 children from year 6 traveled to Marley to take part in the annual football festival with around 30 other schools. This year, we were able to enter two teams. Both played really well and finished third out of six in their respective leagues. Unfortunately, it was only the top team that made it through to the knockout rounds. Here are a selection of pictures from the tournament:

Thank you to Miss Charles and Mick for accompanying us to this tournament!

Today in year six we continued learning how to play benchball. We have now learnt three different passes, how to intercept the ball and how to move around the court. We ended the lesson with a big match where everyone was involved – here are some photos:

What can you tell me about benchball?
