Reception visitors … part 1!

We are very lucky to have lots of different people who us help in our community. To introduce our new topic ‘People Who Help Us’ a special visitor is coming to see Reception class each week.

Last week, Lynn and John came to see us to talk about the Army! We got the chance to ask lots of questions about their jobs and how they help different people. Lynn and John brought us different equipment and uniform that we could look at and try on. They also brought some survival packs for us to taste. They even set up a mini assault course for us in our outdoor area. It was a very fun and interesting afternoon and it helped us learn lots of information about the Army.

In The Garden!

Reception have loved learning about all the different things we can find and do ‘in the garden’.

As part of our topic we have been looking after some caterpillars. We have been watching how they grow and change during their lifecycle. The children recently released our butterflies into our brand new garden in our outdoor area.

Mother’s Day 2019

On Thursday, Reception class performed a Mother’s Day assembly in front of Year 1, Year 2 and lots of parents. The children did really well – speaking clearly, singing loudly and making everyone really proud.

Well Done Reception Class!

St Paul’s Nativity and Carol Concert 2018

On Thursday, Reception performed a traditional nativity play for their family and friends in St Paul’s church. Each year group also sang a Christmas carol during the service.

A big THANK YOU to everybody who helped and also family and friends who came to watch.

We hope you all enjoyed watching it as much as the children enjoyed performing it!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

From all the staff and students at St Paul’s 🙂

Spreading Christmas Kindness in Reception!

This week the ‘Christmas kindness elf’ has been visiting Reception each day with lots of fun surprises. On Tuesday, he gave us equipment to make Christmas cards for our family and friends and on Wednesday he left us some white clay to make baubles for our Christmas trees.

Unfortunately, we didn’t see him on Thursday but after lunch today we received a surprise….

A Christmas Surprise for Reception!

Today, Miss Wassell brought a mystery package to Reception class … it was present from Santa! He had given us a magic elf door to place near a wall to create some elf magic, inside it read:

Boys and girls you must always remember, to be good all year especially in December

For when you see the magic door appear, the Christmas Kindness Elf is sure to be near

Checking your behaviour the whole week through, remember he will see everything you do!

So if you are good, polite and share, be nice to others, behave well and play fair

On Christmas Eve with my sleigh full of toys, I will deliver presents to all good girls and boys!

Love Santa X

When we arrived back from our weekly mile, something magical had happened! The elf had appeared through the magical door with a note and some presents that read:

Good morning Reception! Santa told me you are having Christmas dinner today with your friends – how exciting! Would you like to make a crown for your lunchtime fun? Love the Kindness Elf XX

The children got straight to work creating their crowns to wear at lunchtime! We have had so much fun – what will the Kindness Elf bring tomorrow?

Remembrance Day Year 6 & Reception

Last week, Year 6 and Reception class worked together to produce a fantastic Remembrance Day display to celebrate 100 years since the end of WW1.

The children in both classes worked together to produce lots of poppies using paint, tissue paper, crayons and felt tips. We then joined them altogether on the silhouette of a soldier.

Year 2 also kindly contributed their poppies in the shape of 100.

Well done to everyone involved. I am so proud of this amazing tribute.

Miss Charles

Reception’s First School Trip!

Reception dive UNDER THE SEA!

On Wednesday 11th of July, Reception class visited the Sealife Centre in Manchester as part of their Under The Sea topic.

The children explored the centre and saw lots of wonderful sea creatures including: turtles, sharks, clown fish, crabs, jellyfish, seahorses and even a sneaky octopus. The children also got to touch a coral snake and starfish in the rockpool. Reception were so sensible even other members of the public commented on how well behaved the children at St Paul’s were.

Have a look at our video to see how much fun we had on our school trip …. but watch out for the SHARK!

Penalty Shoot Out – Reception & Year 1

On Tuesday, the children had the chance to take part in a sponsored penalty shoot out against a very special guest … BILLY BANTAM!

Reception and Year 1 had lots of fun meeting the Bradford City Football club helpers and Billy Bantam himself. They cheered on their friends to try and score as many goals as possible. A big THANK YOU to Bradford City for a great morning!
